Ash Blankenship joins Brad Stephens for an episode of the Big Ideas for Better Places Podcast
Ash discusses Parksify and the roles parks and public spaces play in our lives
This morning I joined Brad Stephens, director of CityWorks Xpo's CoLab to discuss Parksify and the roles parks and public spaces play in our lives for an upcoming episode of the Big Ideas for Better Places Podcast.
Brad asked me about the importance of parks in our lives as city dwellers, what roles public spaces play in connecting communities, as well as the benefits of green spaces, among other topics.
As a guest on the show, I had the opportunity to discuss my work with Parksify and to also share conversations I've had with urbanists, planners, and authors about our cities' public spaces.
I told the story of how the Seattle-based Pomegranate Center and its founder Milenko Matanovik are working to bring community members together to design and develop public spaces in artistic ways.
I discussed my own experience with walkability and how it directly impacts my life. And I discussed the movement to create better parks and green spaces within cities.
The episode of the Big Ideas for Better Places Podcast should be available in January and I will share the link once it's live.
Lastly, I want to thank Parksify's Supporting Members for making this all possible. Without the patronage of Supporting Members, I wouldn't be able to do this work and to share the important stories about urban public spaces with a growing audience.
And, if you'd like to pitch in and help support the podcast, you can join for the price of a cup of coffee by going to the Supporting Membership page. You'll also receive access to Parksify's Facebook Group exclusive to Supporting Members, where you can join Q&A's with podcast guests.
