I just had a great conversation with David McNeill, Executive Officer of Baldwin Hills Conservancy about the Park to Playa Trail, a 13-mile public space being developed in Los Angeles County, from the Baldwin Hills Parklands neighborhood to the Pacific Ocean. This trail will connect current parks and neighborhoods in a large area of the city.
I asked McNeill about the proposed goals for the Park to Playa Trail, its planning involvement with local communities, and how the trail will promote walking and cycling.
"Proximity has a lot to do with it and promoting it is the second big part," McNeill told me. "The goal is to reorient people towards their bicycles from their cars."
You can listen to my interview with McNeill on the next episode of the Parksify Podcast, which will be released tomorrow. You’ll find it on iTunes, SoundCloud, and on Parksify.com.
